How Members Can Make the Most Out of Government and Fleet Vehicle Purchases

Vehicles are an important asset for local governments. They allow staff to do their jobs more effectively, provide services for the community, and transport cargo or people as needed. Important assets like these can be costly, but BuyBoard is here to help members find vehicles that meet both their needs and budget.

Police carsGovernment and fleet vehicle purchases are available through BuyBoard contract 724-23 Vehicles, Police Motorcycles, Parts, and Maintenance Repair Services. When members make a purchase through this contract, a $400 flat fee is applied per purchase order (PO). This fee is applied in accordance with rules around licensed franchised car dealers. Since the fee is per PO, it’s more cost effective for your organization to purchase vehicles in bulk, when possible. That said, if your organization has a decentralized purchasing structure, this could be an opportunity to consolidate. Depending on frequency and how many departments make vehicle purchases, the savings could be significant.

With sustainability as a key focus across our country, local governments are facing more green vehicle requirements and fleet electrification is becoming more common across cities and counties. Contract 724-23 also includes a variety of electric vehicles.  Members can find electric vehicles from Chevrolet, Dodge, and Ford, including the following models:

  • Chevrolet Blazer EV PPV and Blazer EV SUV

  • Chevrolet Silverado 1500 EV Pickup

  • Chevrolet Bolt EV Sedan

  • Dodge 1500 RAM REV Pickup

  • Ford Mustang Mach E

  • Ford F-150 Lighting SSV Pickup and Lighting Pro Pickup
